THE INTERPRETATION IMPLIED IN THE TWO POEMS “HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHER” BY EMILY DICKINSON AND “INVICTUS” BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

 

ABSTRACT

Irzalina Melati Putri (2018).  The Interpretation implied in the two poems “Hope is the thing With Feather” by Emily Dickinson and “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley. Thesis. Jakarta: English Literature Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Asing (STIBA)-IEC Jakarta.

This thesis is aimed to To analyze the interpretation that implied in the two poems. Objectives of the study: (1) To analyze the interpretation that implied in the two poems, “Hope is the thing With Feather” by Emily Dickinson and “Invictusby William Ernest Henley. (2) To  identify the theme known in the two poems, “Hope is the thing With Feather” by Emily Dickinson and “Invictusby William Ernest Henley. Based on the objective of the study, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in collecting the data. From the data analysis, the researcher found out the Interpretation of the two poems and the theme of the two poems. Based on the finding that the most element of poetry used in the two poems is Imagery. It can be implied that the element of poetry is important in poem and also to beautify the poem.
