IDENTIFYING DERIVATIONAL AND INFLECTIONAL MORPHEMES IN OBAMA’S FAREWELL SPEECH TRANSCRIPT

This thesis is intended to identify bound morphemes (derivations and inflections) in Obama’s Farewell Speech Transcript. The writer would like to explain why morphemes need to be learned. The writer also finds out the differences between derivations and inflections. The study has two objectives: (1) to identify derivational morphemes in Obama’s Farewell Speech, (2) to identify inflectional morphemes in Obama’s Farewell Speech. This thesis applies qualitative approach by using context analysis method. There are two kinds of data that the writer used to analyze the movie: (1) the primary data is taken from audio visual and script of Obama’s Farewell Speech (2) the secondary data is taken from several literal books that relevant like internet, journal and e-book that supported and completed the primary data. The writer hopes this paper will be useful for readers and can be applied in real life.
